Three and a bit years later the ecosystem is growing, still largely unknown by the wider public, still a bit clunky compared to the polished legacy social media

But the roots are being laid down just like in early Bitcoin, the Nostr protocol is expanding with relay runners like the early node runners, the clients like the early wallet providers

Where is Nostr in relation to Bitcoin?

I would say mid 2012, we haven’t seen our 2013 moment or even the 2017 hysteria

Bitcoin to this day still struggles to break into the mainstream because legacy traditional finance and governments try to keep a lid on it

Similarly the legacy social media giants do not want the normies to know that they can use Nostr with total sovereignty

Building on Nostr is open and unstoppable, we are building the decentralized social media that Bitcoin always needed and the normies don’t realise yet they will need it

There is still a lot of work to do, to improve Nostr. But we must be careful we don’t sacrifice the core principles in order to attract the masses
