William Gibson, the author of the cyberpunk hit Neuromancer, once said:

The future is already here—it’s just not very evenly distributed

As Bitcoiners you probably totally vibe with this point of view.

But I was wondering… if this statement is true, it should equally hold for the past. That though we might believe we are very advanced in certain aspects of development/evolution, we might not be fully aware of what old practices and beliefs we are still carrying with us.

For instance, let’s say someone has the gift of high sensitivity, such a person might have been burned as witch in the past. But the legacy of this inquisition culture still remains. Okay, we might not see burning pyres anymore. But these witchy types might still be ostracised, neglected and shunned, because they scare, confront and expose people.

In that sense, regarding this aspect, dependent on in which niche you live … the past is still here.

One could also make the case that this is still the original Gibson’s law, but just seen from the future’s point of view.

I’m looking forward to hearing other examples of this that support this inverse-Gibson law.
